EDUCOM Seminar

The Educational Committee seeks to:

• Create awareness of GMSA-KNUST among Muslim Senior High School students and introduce them to the association, its activities, and opportunities for engagement.

• Equip students with practical knowledge, essential life skills, and guidance to help them prepare for the transition from Senior High School to tertiary education and life beyond SHS.

• Expose students to tertiary education opportunities, including university programs, scholarships, career pathways, internships, and other opportunities relevant to their academic and professional development.

• Provide students with access to mentorship and guidance from university students, professionals, speakers, and other individuals with relevant experiences.

• Create a supportive platform where students can ask questions, discuss their concerns, and seek guidance on academic, career, and personal development matters.

• Encourage students to make informed decisions about their educational and career paths and to recognize and take advantage of opportunities available to them.

• Strengthen the connection between Muslim SHS students and the wider GMSA community, creating opportunities for continued support and engagement.

Over the years, the Educational Committee has implemented initiatives such as SHS visitations and EDUCOM seminars, engaging Muslim students from various Senior High Schools as well as students within the KNUST community. These engagements have created valuable opportunities for students to interact with university students, speakers, and other resource persons while gaining practical insights into tertiary education and life beyond SHS.

Through these programs, participants have received guidance on educational and career pathways, gained greater awareness of scholarships and other opportunities, and developed a better understanding of the transition from Senior High School to tertiary education. The programs also provide a platform for meaningful discussions, mentorship, and the sharing of experiences, helping students approach their future academic and personal development with greater awareness and preparation.

The Educational Committee's primary support comes from GMSA-KNUST, with additional support sought from GMSA alumni, individuals, organizations, institutions, and other stakeholders who share an interest in supporting the educational and personal development of young people.

We welcome support in various forms, including financial contributions, educational materials, speakers, mentors, professional expertise, partnerships, logistics, and other relevant resources. Such support enables the committee to expand its reach, organize more impactful educational programs, engage a wider range of students, and provide participants with access to valuable knowledge, guidance, and opportunities.

Through collaboration with alumni, organizations, professionals, and other stakeholders, the committee hopes to build sustainable partnerships that will strengthen its educational initiatives and increase the long-term impact of its programs on students and the wider community.
